On Monday night in London, Stella, Mary and Sir Paul McCartney gathered together to honor their beloved matriarch Linda at a gallery opening that showcases some of her most memorable (and historic) photographs. The showing at the Gallery Phillips De Pury was created in conjunction with the recently released book Linda McCartney: Life in Photographs published by Taschen just last week.
The book, curated with help from the family, is a compilation of just some of the photographs out of 200,000 that have been archived since Linda's death in 1998. It is in essence, the timeline of McCartney's life and furthermore, of a woman who captured so much beauty both as a rock-n-roll photographer and as a mother and wife of a Beatle.

The provocative and personal photo subjects range from tender family moments with the kids, to behind the curtain shots of musicians like Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan and Eric Clapton (Linda was the first woman photographer to have her photo, of Eric, featured on the cover of Rolling Stone in 1968).
Stateside, the exhibition will be on view in New York at the Bonni Benrubi Gallery now through July 29th and the book itself is available online at Taschen.
