Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney

(9 de enero de 1875 - 18 de abril de 1942),
fue una escultora y filántropa estadounidense.

Fundó en 1931 el Museo Whitney, que está ahora en la calle 75th, muy cerquita de Central Park. El cuadro es parte de los fondos del museo y fue un retrato que ella encargó. Nunca lo pudo colgar en su mansión de la 5ª Avenida porque a su marido no le parecía apropiado, porque ella llevaba pantalones.

Warhol’s Christmas Illustrations

Just a few of the many illustrations Andy Warhol created for John Loring's Tiffany. The Warhol-Tiffany adventure began in 1956 and lasted for seven years. Dan Stafford

Born in Manchester, Stafford graduated this year from Loughborough University School of Art & Design with First Class Honours in Visual Communication. He is now busily producing slightly mad illustrations for clients such as Who’s Jack Magazine.

Stafford says filmmakers such as David Lynch and Stanley Kubrick influence his art, but we detect a Tim Burtonish sense of the bizarre — an aggressive duality of sweet and sinister, meek and macabre. In Stafford’s work, the dark side is mostly up-front in the subject matter while the softer side is represented through the choice colors and the softness of edges.
